Guwahati. The Assam CPI today demanded the unconditional release of jailed top ULFA leaders for the sake of taking forward the peace process.

''The government should proceed with unconditional release of the jailed leaders so that the peace talks can be initiated,'' CPI general secretary Pramod Gogoi said here.

He welcomed the government's step of releasing ULFA 'vice-chairman' Pradip Gogoi and 'publicity secretary' Mithinga Daimary on bail.

''It is a positive step and such a step for release of other leaders should also be taken,'' Mr Gogoi added.
