Bhopal. Thousands of pilgrims in Madhya Pradesh took a dip in holy rivers and offered puja at various temples on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya today.

In the holy city of Ujjain, pilgrims took a dip in the Kshipra river before offering puja at the Mahakaleshwar temple in the morning.

Similarly, pilgrims bathed in the Narmada river in Omkareshwar in Khandwa district and Sethani ghat on the Narmada river bank in Hoshangabad district during the noon hours. Many of the pilgrims have also reached the origin of the holy river in Amarkantak.

In Bhojpur near Bhopal, the site of the ancient Shiva temple the pilgrims took a dip in the Betwa river and later visited the temple to offer puja. In Bhopal, many pilgrims bathed in the upper lake on the occasion.
