Ranchi. The Jharkhand government today said it was ready for a special debate on the drought situation in the state even as Speaker C P Singh turned down the Opposition's demand to move an adjournment motion on the issue.

As the House assembled for Question Hour, Mr Pradeep Yadav of Jharkhand Vikash Morcha (Prajatantrik) expressed concern over the drought situation in Jharkhand and sought to move an adjournment motion.

However, the Speaker rejected the plea.

Deputy Chief Minister Raghubar Das said the government was serious about the situation and expressed its readiness for a special debate on the issue.
