Mumbai. Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan today congratulated Master Blaster Sachin Tendular for scoring the first ever double century in the one-day international match against South Africa, played at Gwalior, yesterday.

In a congratulatory message, the Governor said, ''The entire nation and cricket lovers across the world are proud of you for setting the much-awaited world record by scoring the first ever double century in the one-day international game against South Africa. The record is particularly special as it took many years to better the previous best record.'' ''Sportspersons and youth of the country look up to you as an icon. I send my heartiest congratulations to you on this very special achievement and hope that you will create newer records in your career in both forms of the game in future,'' Mr Sankaranarayanan added in an official release here.
