Ranchi. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni today assured that her party would conduct the long pending Panchayat elections within hundred days if voted to power in Jharkhand.
'' The matter is with the Supreme Court, but we will hold the panchayat elections in hundred days after formation of government in the state,'' Ms Soni said addresing a news conference here.
Refering to money laundering scam of about rs 2000 crores, involving former Chief Minister Madhu Koda, Ms Soni said investigation by the Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate was on and anyone found guilty would be brought within the ambit of law.
''The investigating agency is doing its job and therefore I will not make any comment in this regard'', Ms Soni replied to a query.
When asked about extending support to Koda to form government here, Ms Soni said ''we supported to fill the political vaccuum of that time''.
Speaking about Liberhan Commission report about the Babri Masjid demolition, Ms Soni said Union Home Minister P Chidambaram had already made it very clear in the Rajya Sabha that the report was not leaked.
''A copy of the report is with the H M while another with Justice Liberhan'', Ms Soni said.
Refuting the charges of ''selective leakage'' of commission's report by the BJP, Ms Soni said that the ''saffron birgade'' itself was trying to take political mileage of the matter.
Advocating self regulation for media broadcasters while formulating law for them, the I&B minister said the government was looking for an option at par with the TRAI.
''The controlling authority should have some statutary powers otherwise no one would follow its recommendation. Therefore the Centre was considering for a statutary body in this regard,'' she said.
She said a task force constituted would sit on December five to look into the matter seriously.
